![]() ![]() I assume you are in the US (other countries laws are different). So, people who have actual experience with plex servers which of these is my best option? Will the Shield work/can it transcode HEVC/h265? Do you know a good cheap desktop that'll work as a server? Or should I just leave my comp on for a week and transcode it all and go with the Pi? Thanks!Įdit: to clarify, my content is all 1080P, I don't have anything in 4K. But all 450+ files will take a good long while. Lastly, I could just leave my desktop on for a week and let it just transcode all my HEVC to H264 and go the Pi route anyway. But I've also read a lot of posts from people saying it's terrible as a plex server and it's HEVC transcoding is bugged and not working. Next up is the Shield, which, on paper, looks perfect. My next option was a cheap desktop, something like a NUC or Cubi but finding one with the power to transcode cheap hasn't been terribly easy (I'm also unsure if they can transcode HEVC in real time). ![]() I was going to go the Raspberri Pi route but the PS4 apparently can't play HEVC/h265 content and the Pi sure ain't gonna transcode that. Ok, so what I want is a low power plex server that I can always leave on to serve media to two computers and a PS4 instead of leaving my gaming desktop on all the time as the server.
